Production

Commercial production

Brand and retail work for agencies with a client waiting and marketing teams working without one.

The work

  • Brand films and manifesto spots
  • Product and retail commercials, online and broadcast
  • Launch campaigns with a full set of cutdowns and aspect ratios
  • Digital and social-first commercials built for sound-off viewing
  • Trade, exhibition and point-of-sale content

Working to an agency's board

When the concept is already sold, the job is to shoot the board and not the treatment I would have written. That means a shot list mapped frame by frame to the storyboard, a director who flags on the day if a frame is not going to cut, and a first assembly that lets the agency see the sold idea rather than a reinterpretation of it.

Where the concept is not yet sold, the treatment can be written to help sell it.

Effects work, budgeted honestly

Because compositing is done in house, effects-dependent ideas can be costed properly at the quote stage rather than being promised on the shoot and discovered as a problem in post. A screen replacement, a product that has to do something it cannot do, a location that has to be somewhere else — all of that is cheaper when it is planned into the shoot.

The reverse is also true: if an idea is going to be expensive to finish, you will hear it before the money is committed.

Post-only enquiries — a commercial that is already shot and needs finishing — are day-rate work rather than a production quote.

What it costs

Quoted per project, because the cost of a film lives in the shoot rather than in a rate card. The drivers are broken down on the pricing page, and the FAQ answers what a corporate video actually costs in South Africa.
