Post production

Animation & compositing

The narrow end of the practice: the shots that cannot be fixed in the edit, and the sequences that were never shot at all.

Compositing

Most compositing work is invisible by design. A boom in the top of frame, a crew reflection in a car door, a logo on a competitor's product, a sky that was flat on the day — the job is to remove the problem so completely that nobody watching knows there was one.

Green screen is the visible half: keying a subject cleanly, matching the light of the plate they are going into, and holding the edges through motion so the composite survives a full-screen playback rather than only a phone.

  • Green and blue screen keying, spill suppression and edge treatment
  • Rotoscoping and matte work where a key is not possible
  • Wire, rig and object removal; clean plates and patch work
  • Planar and 3D camera tracking, screen replacement and set extension
  • Beauty and clean-up passes
  • Sky replacement and atmospheric work

Tracking with Mocha

Mocha's planar tracker is what makes most of the above practical. A phone screen replaced across a handheld shot, a billboard swapped in a drive-by, a logo removed from a moving garment: these are planar problems, and solving them in Mocha rather than point-tracking them by hand is the difference between an afternoon and a week.

Tracks are delivered as usable data, not just a finished render, so the shot can be revised later without starting over.

Animation

Two-dimensional animation built in After Effects: explainer sequences, animated diagrams, product mechanics, and the kind of information design that a camera cannot shoot. Character work is kept simple and graphic rather than pretending to be a cel animation house.

Where a job is animation from end to end, it is scoped as a production rather than a day rate — there is a storyboard and a style frame stage before a single asset is built.

Overflow work for post houses

Shot-by-shot work for facilities that are full. Send the plates, the reference and the deadline; get back the comps with the project files organised to your structure. No credit is claimed on work delivered under someone else's roof unless you offer it.

What it costs

R6,500 per day, excluding VAT, wherever the job comes from. What a day covers is set out on the pricing page.
