Challenge & solution
Twelve minutes is a long time to hold somebody, and corporate social investment films get dull fast when they turn into a list of good deeds. The only way through is to stay with the people the programmes actually touch and let them talk, then use structure to keep the thing moving — knowing when a section has made its point and cutting before it repeats itself.
I shot this and cut it for Hack Films, and Ryan Bronkhorst’s animation carries the parts you can’t film: the numbers, the reach, the shape of the programmes. That division of labour is what keeps a film this length watchable. Pictures for people, graphics for facts.
The discipline
This one came through corporate video. Internal comms, case studies and leadership films, start to finish.
